Cast your stone

Gracious Daughters, when Pastor Tara shared the vision for us this year, I got so excited my spirit leapt within me because the theme “Daughter with a Voice” ties up directly with the Jewish calendar. You might be wondering what on earth I am talking about, so let me explain…

We live by the Gregorian calendar but the Jewish people live by the Hebraic calendar. So we would say we are in the year 2020 whereas the Jewish people would be saying they are in the year ‘5780.’ In the Hebrew alphabet each letter is represented by a number so when we look at the number ’80’ we could ask what letter is that number represented by? And this is where it all gets very exciting…

You see the number ’80’ is represented by the letter ‘Peh’ which is a picture of a mouth, the organ of speech. Its so easy for us to just take that ‘understanding’ for granted, but the fact that we have a mouth and can speak is what differentiates us and ranks us the highest from the rest of God’s creation. It is the mouth that makes a human being able to fulfill the ultimate purpose of Creation; to sing the praises of the Almighty and to speak aloud His Word. In Genesis 2:7 it says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” One interpretation says, “a speaking spirit.”

Gracious Daughter, the Lord has designed for you to be a speaking spirit and He is saying to you that now is the time to give rise to your voice! For it is with your voice that you express your insights and concepts. “The insight, is the beginning, while the mouth, brings it to fruition.”

I am sure you have read that Scripture … ‘as a daughter thinks in her heart, so is she.’ In the Hebrew alphabet the letter that precedes the letter ‘Peh’ is the letter ‘Ayin’ which is the letter of perception and insight, for its name means eye. Maybe like me, you too have been in a place up until now, where you feel the Lord has been showing you great and many things and the things He has shown you have brought you to a better place of understanding, where perhaps your character like mine was being developed (read Matthew 6:22), but He has not opened the way for you to speak yet and you have remained silent. Well, Gracious Daughter now it is time to be a Daughter with a voice!

He has put His words in your heart, and He wants YOU to speak them out. Now is the time to “cast your stone.”

In Biblical times, to ‘cast your stone’ meant, to have your say; give voice to, or to place your vote. When Paul, speaking of his former life, was speaking to King Agrippa of how he persecuted the Jews he said, “…and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them (KJV) or ‘cast my vote against them.” The Greek word here is [psēphon] meaning; a pebble (a stone worn smooth as by water, or polished).

So, to cast your vote or voice is to “cast your stone.”

Just as this pebble was worn smooth by water, so our words should be ‘filtered’ through the washing of the water by the Word. Yes, just as the Word is Jesus, we must let Jesus Who is our Head Cornerstone be our final Authority. Perhaps I can put it this way… let all that YOU say, be founded on everything HE has said!

In the courts a white “stone” indicated acquittal, a black condemnation. In the time of Jesus, when a prisoner had served their time and was being released, they were given a white stone. It signified freedom from bondage. Imagine walking down the street, and somebody says, “Hey, I thought you were in prison?” All you had to do was to show them your white stone because your stone was your voice!

We have been set free from sin and bondage through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross! John tells us, “So if the Son sets you free from sin, then become a true daughter (own insert) and be unquestionably free!” So, when Satan comes to tell you his lies, in the hope that you will believe them, all you have to do is “cast your stone,” because you are unquestionably free to be a Daughter with a voice!

Remember when the Apostle John was on the Isle of Patmos and the Lord was instructing him what to say to His churches? Did you know that one of those churches was in Pergamum, and at that time the ‘temple of Asclepius’ stood in the city. In front of that temple were white marble pillars engraved with the names of people supposedly healed by the god. You might be wondering why they did that? Well they believed Asclepius was a Greco-Roman god of medicine and healing. It was said he was the son of Apollos (god of healing, truth, and prophecy) and princess Coronis.

That is why the Lord said to them, “…to him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” The believers would have understood exactly what God was saying, and all the more true for us today who are called overcomers.

We have overcome, through the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. So, every time you partake of communion… His body that was broken for you and His blood that was shed; you are voicing His finished work and that you are healed in Jesus name!

Jesus is your Cornerstone, so you have been given a new name in that He destined you from the beginning to share in His likeness. This new creation life you now have is continually being renewed into that ‘likeness’ of the One Who created you; giving you the full revelation of God.

Let it be revealed to you right now that you are an overcomer in the face of Satan (Pergamos; ’fortified’ or ‘tower’) because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Whatever your ‘giant’ looks like today, be like David who took five stones (The number five speaking of God’s Grace) and ‘cast your stone’ Daughter with a voice, by saying, “It is written…” or “Jesus is my Deliverer,” “Jesus is my Healer,” “Jesus is my Provider,” “Jesus is my Defender.” Amen!

A white stone was awarded to victors of athletic games in Ancient Roman custom. It then became a ticket to a special awards banquet. Did your spirit just leap within you? Mine did too! One day we will all be called to feast at the wedding celebration of the Lamb.

So while we are on this earth, we must run our race with endurance. Daughters don’t give up! Keep your eyes on Jesus, WHO IS the author and finisher of your faith. He is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. He has given you a white stone. It is finished!

So, now is the time Oh, Daughters to “cast your stone.”

With love

Your sister in Christ, Ylva
